Ighodaro, Ibrahim score hat-tricks in NPFL

Enugu Rangers striker, Osaguona Ighodaro (pictured) and Giwa FC striker, Shuaibu Ibrahim, are the latest players to score hat-tricks in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The two strikers netted three goals each on a weekend in which 26 goals were scored in 10 NPFL matches.

On Sunday, Osaguona netted his treble for Rangers in a 3-3 draw with Gombe United in Enugu as Ibrahim Abdullahi and former Rangers man, Adamu Mohammed scored a brace of goals. Mohammed is now leading scorer with eight goals.

Ibrahim helped Giwa FC rout Kaduna United 4-0 as his scored thrice while Charles Okoro got the other goal to see the Elephant secure their biggest top flight win in their debut season.

Sunshine Stars left it very late in Akure to defeat Nasarawa United. It was Muyiwa Lawal, brother of former Flying Eagles winger, Dimeji Lawal, who scored the winner with five minutes remaining.

Lawal is proving to be the super sub at Sunshine Stars as he came off the bench to score like he did in their 1-2 loss at Crown FC.

Enyimba made light walk of Nembe City in Aba with a three-nil win. It took just a minute, 44 seconds for Abdulrahman Bashir to open score.

Former Akwa United striker, Mfon Udoh, scored twice as Enyimba won their fourth home game without conceding. The Aba club have rose five spots up and are now in third position on 22 points, five behind leaders Sharks.

Sharks extended their unbeaten run to nine and their stay at the top of the Glo Premier League to eight match days after a 1-1 draw at Warri Wolves on Sunday.

Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami scored from a penalty in the 21st minute before Tayo Fabiyi levelled the contest in the 56th minute.

Kufre Ebong scored the winner for Akwa United against a defensive Lobi Stars. Akwa United are now in fifth position with 22 points.

Heartland will be kicking themselves for allowing their former striker, Tochukwu Esom, leave in the off-season. Esom turned up to score the winning goal for FC Taraba and his goal condemned Heartland to their fourth defeat of the season.

The game between Abia Warriors and Crown FC was already over inside 60 minutes. Warriors scored three goals within one hour through Bishop Onyeudo, Peter Onyekachi and Ndifreke Effiong to end this game as a contest and turn back Crown FC.
