Babadidi, Sani out injured

By Ojeikere Aikhoje

Gombe United will be without top scorers, Mustapha Babadidi and Sanusi Sani, due to injury when they face leaders, Kano Pillars, on Matchday 16.

This is the first time that Pillars will be on top of the log this term.

Both players have scored 16 goals for Gombe United which has the best attack in the league with 21 goals in15 matches.

Sani, who has seven goals this term has been out since the team shared the points at home with Heartland, while nine-goal hero, Babadidi, was injured during Wednesday's rescheduled tie against Enugu Rangers.

It will be the first time both strikers will be out of the team this term.

"I collided with the Rangers goalkeeper which left me with a knee injury. This might rule me out for the remaining matches in the first round of the league," Babadidi told SuperSport.com.

In the absence of the duo, Gombe United gaffer, Bernard Ogbe, will have to depend on other strikers who have made significant contribution to the team's progress.

Yekini Jelili has scored two goals during road trips at Ocean Boys and Akwa United, while Ahmed Aliyu got the goal as Gombe United won at Kaduna United and he was on the score-sheet against Enugu Rangers.

Former Niger Tornadoes forward, Austin Ekpoma, is another dependable forward. Ekpoma scored his first goal against Rangers.
