Dolphins Ready For Premier League - Godwin

Captain of Dolphins Football Club, Emma Godwin, has declared that the newcomer would be prepared for the challenge of competing in the Nigeria Premier League that kicks off next month.
Godwin believes that keeping the core players that won promotion for the side ahead of the 2009/2010 campaign in the top-flight can be the key to the side’s challenge in the Premier League for the first time in two years after it was relegated in 2007.
“I am confident that we have a chance of doing well in our first season in the Premier League after gaining promotion last season. But we will need to keep most of the players that took part in our promotion fight last season if we really want to do well,” he said.
The Dolphins FC defender warned his side that the Premier League is a different proposition to the National Division I League, which it won after defeating Kwara United in a play-off in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja last week.
Godwin also said the major objective of the side would be to remain in the Premier League after the 2009/2010 campaign though he did not rule out the possibility of challenging for the title or a ticket in one of the continental club competitions.
“The Premier League is a different ball game entirely and I know that my team-mates are aware of this. Our main aim is to make sure that we would remain in the Premier League after the end of next season by retaining our place among the 20 clubs. At the same time, we are a quality team with quality players and an experienced coach. We have the chance of challenging for a ticket to the continent and like every of the club in the Premier League we also have a good chance of playing for the title,” said Godwin.
