INSIDE THE CLUBS

Niger Tornadoes:
Any hope of the side recruiting two Brazilian players ahead of the new season has evaporated into the skies after the agent, who brought the players into the country has decided to end the trial-period of the Brazilians at the Minna club. Media officer of the club, Mohammed She, informed that the players were taken away by the agent last week but could not explain the reason behind the decision. It is likely that the agent might be taking the players to another Globacom Premier League side in a bid to win them contracts.

Enugu Rangers:
It is likely that the Flying Antelopes would name Christian Chukwu’s successor this week or next after shortlisting coaches who applied for the job of head coach after it (the position) was advertised last month. Like most Nigerian clubs, officials of the Enugu-based Premier League outfit has refused to reveal the names of those picked for interview. It was learnt that is likely that final interviews for those shortlisted would hold this week in Enugu.

Kaduna United:
By Thursday, the club should be making headway in picking its choice of head coach for the coming season of the Globacom Premier League. Chairman of the side, Sabo Babayaro, who was unavoidably absent during the Super Four and seminar in Ilorin due to illness, disclosed that it is likely that the issue of a new coach could be agreed upon by tomorrow when the club board meets in Kaduna. Four coaches have been named as shortlist with Gombe United’s Ben Duamlong being the only Nigerian coach while the other three are foreigners.

Sunshine Stars:
The deal to bring Kadiri Ikhana on board the team of the Akure club. It is reported that the Edo-born coach and the Ondo State officials may have hit a brick wall when both parties disagreed on the role that Ikhana would play at the club. Known for being impatient and a no-nonsense person, Ikhana may have dumped the deal with Sunshine Stars, but it is likely he would still have a last talk with the Ondo State government on his role at the Premier League side by the end of this week.
