WEEK 7 PREVIEW: Enyimba v Heartland FC

This is one of the two biggest oriental clashes in the Premier League involving clubs from the eastern part of Nigeria. In the past eight head-to-head meetings in the Nigerian league between the two sides, Heartland Football Club has a miserable record of having won just once on February 24, 2008 and it was at the Enyimba Sports Complex in Aba. Interestingly, the Peoples Elephant’s three wins in the eight meetings between both sides have ended in 3-0 scorelines. Enyimba’s merciless performance against Heartland FC in the eight head-to-head meetings dates back to May 7, 2005 when Heartland FC was still known as Iwuanyanwu Nationale. But in the last one year, it appears that the gulfing class between the two sides has been narrowed since this same fixture ended in a 1-1 draw on November 2, 2008 before the return game ended goalless in Owerri early this year. But this week’s star match would be full of intrigues.
Prediction: 1-1
