FIFA, NFF Forces Change On NPL’s Electoral Plan

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has shifted the date for the inauguration of the seven-man electoral committee earlier scheduled to hold on December 11, 2009 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The change, according to a statement made available to Naijaligue.blogspot.com is due to the electoral codes of the world soccer governing body, FIFA and the programmes of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to the Special Assistant to the NPL chairman on Media, Kasali Obanoyen, the country’s football ruling body is scheduled to hold a General Assembly on December 29 with all Premier League clubs in attendance.
“We don’t want to carry out an electoral process contrary to FIFA code to enable transparency and fairness in the election,” the former Lobi Stars’ official disclosed.
However, the NPL board meeting is fixed for December 11 to facilitate the emergency congress of the Premier League for those amendments adapted and ratified before a new date for the inauguration of the electoral committee is announced.
