Kano Pillars’ Duo Grabs Monthly Award

Head coach and striker of Kano Pillars, Salisu Yusuf and Ahmed Musa, have been named in the maiden edition of the Online Player and Manager Award of the Premier League in Nigeria for the month of January.
The panel of Naijaligue.blogspot.com and Naijapremierleague.com, organizers of the online monthly award, picked the duo for their outstanding performances judging by the results and statistics for the month of January 2010.
Since the departure of Bello Kofarmata to Heartland Football Club in deal reported to be in the region of N5 million, Musa has been pulling the strings for Kano Pillars in attack.
In six matches that the former Nigerian champion played in the month of January, Musa scored four times and failed to hit the target against Dolphin Football Club and Kaduna United on January 9 and 31 respectively.
Deservedly, Musa’s performance robbed off on Kano Pillars, which occupies second place in the Premier League log on 28 points, just two behind leader, Enyimba.
However, returnee coach of Kano Pillars, Yusuf, has been able to guide his side to four wins in six matches in the month of January including a draw.
Kano Pillars suffered just a loss in six games and also defeated league leader, Enyimba, by 2 – 0 on January 17 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
The panel of the two web portal for the monthly award having cross-checked the performances of the coaches and players based on results and statistics picked Yusuf.
Kano Pillars garnered a total of 13 points and this ensured that Yusuf beat the likes of Justin Tenger and Okey Emordi of Kwara United and Enyimba, which had 10 points each.
