Kano Pillars Missed Ahmad Musa, Confesses Coach

Head coach of Kano Pillars, Salisu Yusuf, admitted after his side edged visiting Gombe United in a Week 26 Premier League at the Kano Pillars Stadium on Saturday that its teenage striker, Ahmad Musa’s services was sorely missed.
Kano Pillars won by 2 – 1 with Mohammed Gambo netting twice after Obioha MacMarcel had cancelled an early goal lead from the home side.
Though Yusuf agreed that Musa was missed in the game against Gombe United, he explained that the offensive option that the 17-year-old striker gives his team was purely missing in the team.
The former Lobi Stars’ coach also pointed out that the side missed Musa’s pace that threatens opposing sides’ defences but coped well with the scoring aspect without the player, who was called up to the Super Eagles’ Team B that failed to beat Niger Republic in the second leg of the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) qualifier in Kano.
“I am happy that we have been able to secure three points without Ahmad Musa in the team, which shows that we are not a team of one man. Musa is one of our best players this season and to be sincere with you, we missed him in some aspects of our game against Gombe United. In our team, he is the fastest player and his speed has been good for our game and that was why we missed him.
“But when you talk of goalcoring, we have so many players that can score goals in this team. And Mohammed Gambo showed us that Kano Pillars can score goals without Musa in the team. But it does not mean that we won’t be happy to have him back in the side for our next game,” he told Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
Kano Pillars is set to face Heartland Football Club in a rescheduled game on Wednesday in Owerri, and Yusuf believes Musa would have a role to play in the game that could see Pillars move top if it wins.
Yusuf believes that the game in Owerri is his side’s chance to topple Enyimba from the top of the Premier League log.
“Musa should be part of the team for the game in Owerri. Our plan has always remained to win our matches one after the other. It is the same thing for the game in Owerri. We want to win, get the three points and go on top of the league. So we will go to Owerri to play attacking football because we want the three points,” Yusuf said.
