Pillars Won’t Miss Ahmad Musa, Says Coach

Head coach of Kano Pillars, Salisu Yusuf, has said his side is capable of facing Gombe United on Saturday without the Premier League top scorer, Ahmad Musa.
The former Lobi Stars’ gaffer is confident that in the absence of Musa, who has scored 14 goals this season, the other members of the team can raise their game and secure another home win at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Though Yusuf admitted that he would have loved to have the 17-year-old for this game, it was impossible since he has been released to the Super Eagles’ Team B for the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) qualifier against Niger Republic.
“There’s no doubt every coach in the Premier League would like to have his best players for every game at this point in the season because we have reached such a decisive period of the season when points and goals matter a lot. But Ahmad Musa is on national team assignment so we will have to play without him, and I believe that we have good players to take his place.
“We have players like Musa Musa, Victor Namo and Moses Ogaga and others. So we are not short of players that can score goals. That’s why we will not miss him so much in this game though he gives us so much in our matches due to his style of play,” Yusuf told Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
But Yusuf shifted his focus to Saturday’s game in Kano and the title race, saying that the game against Gombe United is a must-win for his side.
The coach is not only keen to win but wants to do so in style in order to shore up his team’s goals’ difference, which he feels could judge this season’s title battle.
“We want to continue to win our game because our rivals (Enyimba at the top of the league table) would not want to lose their game. We also want to win well by scoring as many goals as possible because anything can happen at the end of the season, and our goals can help us,” he said.
Kano Pillars lost the first clash with Gombe United by two-nil in November and Yusuf is not cranking up talks of a revenge rather he has his sight set on keeping the heat on the league leader, the Peoples Elephant.
