NPL Shifts Heartland – Enyimba Game

The Nigeria Premier League has postponed the high-profile clash of Week 27 between Heartland Football Club and Enyimba scheduled to hold Thursday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
NPL Head of Competitions, Tunji Babalola, told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that the shift was at the instance of the Naze Millionaires, whose squad has been decimated following the invitation of several of its players to the Super Eagles Team B for the WAFU Cup, which kicks off Friday in Abeokuta.
Babalola assured that a new date would be picked for the game with a view that both clubs are still in African club competitions.
“The match has been called off for now because Heartland have most of their players in the national team that will play in the WAFU Cup,” he said.
However, the NPL official stated that the Naze Millionaires would have to play its Week 28 game against Wikki Tourist in Bauchi on Saturday since the Premier League cannot afford to allow the amount of rescheduled games to set it back time-wise.
“No, they will have to play the game against Wikki this weekend because the league must end before the World Cup. If they don’t play it will mean that they will have three outstanding matches and for a team on the continent that will be difficult for the NPL to find new dates on the football calendar for their outstanding games,” Babalola said in a telephone interview with Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
