Dutch Eredivisie side, VVV-Venlo have clinched the service of Nigerian Under20 striker, Uche Nwofor.
Naijaligue.blogspot.com has been informed that Nwofor has joined the Dutch side on a three-year deal.
Football agent, Tony Harris, disclosed that VVV-Venlo beat SL Benfica to the signature of the Enugu Rangers' big forward.
"VVV-Venlo have signed Uche Nwofor for three years. Venlo beat Benfica to sign him.
"We had to take into consideration Uche's development as a footballer. Venlo assured that he would get regular playing time and that is key to his growth as a player," Harris told Naijaligue.blogspot.com on Thursday afternoon.
The 19-year-old forward had been reported by the media in Nigeria that he was close to a deal with Portuguese side, Benfica due to the Flying Eagles tour of that country.
Nwofor has played for Power United Academy, Anambra Pillars, 3SC and this season at Enugu Rangers until he signed for VVV-Venlo.
Harris also disclosed that Nwofor will join up with his new teammates at VVV-Venlo after the Fifa Under20 World Cup.
"Uche will move to Venlo once the world is over. He will be an integral part of the side for the 2011/2012 season," the Englishman said.
Nwofor will be the fourth Nigerian on the books of VVV-Venlo after Alex Nkume, Michael Uchebo and Ahmed Musa.
The big striker has scored twice for Nigeria at the ongoing Fifa Under20 World Cup in Colombia.
