Pillars’ Hitman Edges Close To New Goals’ Record

Kano Pillars’ marksman, Ahmad Musa, continued his scoring streak since the turn of the year when he netted his side’s winner against Ranch Bees in Kaduna to move close to breaking a new goals’ record in the Premier League.
Musa, who had missed the last two games for his title-chasing side, returned to the squad to score the winner in an away game against Bees at the Kaduna Township Stadium over the weekend.
The former Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) striker turned inside his marker at the edge of Ranch Bees’ penalty area before slotting the ball into the net with his left foot past the home side’s goalkeeper.
The 17-year-old’s goal ensured that Kano Pillars temporarily replaced Enyimba at the top of the Premier League log and increased his total goals in the championship to 15.
Head coach of Kano Pillars, Salisu Yusuf, who won the Naija Premier League Online Monthly Award as Best Manager for March, told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that he is confident that the teenage striker would not only surpassing the 17-goal record set by Ishaya Jatau and equalled by Orok Akarandut but reach a new height of scoring 20 goals in a single season.
Yusuf also prayed that the attacking winger does not suffer any injuries in the course of the 11 games remaining in this season’s campaign of the Premier League.
“I am happy that Ahmad Musa is proving that he is a very good striker and he has continued to score goals for us and very important goals too. We are happy with the way things are going for us and we hope that he can equal the record of the highest goal scorer and even set a new one. But I believe that Ahmad can score 20 goals this season if he remains fit till the end of the season.
“Apart from scoring 20 goals for us, he has been a main reason in our title race this season. And there is no way that he would not continue to get a place in the team when you look at his present form. But this does not mean that we do not have other players capable of giving us goals, because they showed that when Ahmad was invited to the Eagles’ camp recently. Mohammed Gambo took his place and scored two goals, so we have lots of good strikers here (at Kano Pillars),” Yusuf, who has won the Manager of the Month Award on twice since inception this year, stated.
