Tornadoes’ Salami Ties Musa For Top Scorer Award

Niger Tornadoes’ forward, Eugene Salami, has suddenly thrown himself into the ring for the top scorer award for the Premier League after he netted twice in his side’s two-nil triumph over Kwara United on Monday.
The striker has increased his total haul for the season to 16 and ties with Kano Pillars’ attacking winger, Ahmed Musa.
Salami, who featured for the Super Eagles’ Team B in the WAFU Nations Cup this year, scored for his side before half-time and made it a double just five minutes past the hour-mark when he converted from the spot kick.
The goals from Salami on Monday inside the Bako Kontagora Stadium also lifted his side into third place ahead five other sides battling for the third continental slot including Kwara United, which it defeated.
Head coach of Niger Tornadoes, Ladan Bosso, further underscored the importance of Salami’s contribution to his side’s continental chase.
“He is an important player for us and this I have always stated. He is a team player and I am happy that he has so far played a big role in our ambition this season and I believe he will play more,” Bosso told Naijaligue.blogspot.com after the match on telephone from Minna.
