Premier League Slams N.5m Fine On Aba Elephant

After emerging as Premier League champion on Wednesday evening in Aba, Enyimba has been fined N500,000 for encroachment by its fans after its 2 – 1 triumph over Kano Pillars.
According to a statement made available to Naijaligue.blogspot.com, the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Executive Secretary, Alhassan Yakmut, described the scenario at the Enyimba Sports Complex as negating the ideals set by the league body.
He pointed out that the fan of the Nigerian champion, who ran naked into the pitch at the end of the game sent “wrong signals and perception” about the Nigerian top-flight to the world.
“This misdemeanor totally negate the moral and ethics of the Nigerian society and Africa at  large and the Nigeria Premier League is an integral part of the larger moral Nigeria society which cannot be identify with this alien and embarrassing conduct,” Yakmut was quoted in the statement.
However, the Premier League has banned the fan from all of its competitions, and demands that he is fished out before the start of the 2010/2011 season.
The  measure was taken in line with Article 7.0 of the rules and regulation of the NPL and would be presented to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee for ratification.
