Danish club turns down Idehen

Danish club, FC Brondby, has sent home Enyimba striker, Osas Idehen, after undergoing a trial at the side for a few days, Naijaligue.blogspot.com can reveal.
The 20-year-old tried out with the reserve squad of FC Brondby and failed to impress the coaching personnel in a goalless outing with FC Copenhagen on August 9.
Idehen, who has made over 30 appearances for the Peoples Elephant since joining in 2009, featured for just 25 minutes in the reserve game.
The Enyimba man in spite of playing for less than half an hour could have wormed his way into the hearts of the FC Brondby backroom staff if he had converted when he was left one-on-one with Copenhagen’s goalkeeper, Kim Christensen.
In the wake of failing to impress, Idehen was released to return back to Nigeria by the Danish side.
But the club’s talent manager, Kim Vilfort, gave a flicker of hope to Idehen when he said the striker’s performance during the trial was decent though the side is not ready to offer him a deal.
Vilfort further disclosed that FC Brondby will be keeping tabs on him by monitoring his progress.
''Osas Idehen has gone home (to Nigeria). He performed okay but did not impress so much. Based on what we saw, nothing happens. But of course, we are keeping an eye on him,'' Vilfort said.
However, Idehen, whose pace was evident in that game, attributed his performance to the different weather he had to face.
“ It was okay because it was my first match here. I'm not so used to the weather, but I will stay,” Idehen had told Onside.dk. “The level (of play) was okay. Our opponents were big and it's very different than I'm used to.
“I have much more to offer. I am top scorer in the league in my country. So when I get used to the weather here, I will be good enough.”
Idehen played with shirt number 31 as the top striker when he came on the pitch for 25 minutes.

  1. why do all our league players keep running abroad, someone should make them understand that no matter where you maybe if you are a good player the big clubs will come for you so let them stay back and develop their skills before going abroad.

It is so bad that one of our best players has been rejected in Europe after just 25 mins trial. I hope the new NPL board under Mr. Owumi will further change the face of the league so that players will no longer run abroad.
