Enugu Rangers’ coach, Alphonsus Dike, has declared that the remaining 10 games can define the season of the club, as he wants to ensure that his side goes on an unbelievable streak.
The 10 remaining game of the Flying Antelopes are against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gateway Football Club, Kwara United, Kano Pillars, Zamfara United, Dolphin Football Club, Sharks Football Club, Enyimba, Heartland Football Club and Wikki Tourist.
When Naijaligue.blogspot.com reeled out the opponents of Rangers in its remaining 10 games to Dike, he acknowledged that though his side would still have to face the frontrunners in the campaign – Kano Pillars and Enyimba – as well as 2009 CAF Champions League finalist, Heartland, he is confident the Coal City club can garner enough points to finish in the top three.
“There is no doubt that among our remaining matches for this season we will face other title-contending clubs such as Enyimba and Kano Pillars, we will concentrate on our own strength and see how we can explore the weaknesses of our opponents. We still do have a good chance of finishing in the top three and even winning the league, but everything will depend on our next 10 games.
“Before the start of the season, we know the target before us and we are out to ensure that in the next 10 games we achieve that target and make our fans happy. We are also still in the title race as things stand at the moment even though we are in the fifth position on the league table,” he said.
Dike, who had previously assisted Christian Chukwu at the same club, is focussed on Sunday’s Week 29 game against traditional rival, Shooting Stars.
The Rangers’ gaffer said the game scheduled for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu is a must-win for his team.
“It is a game that we must win after we secured a draw against Warri Wolves about two weeks ago. So, we will do our best to get all the points in this game (against Shooting Stars),” he said.
