Kaduna Utd battles to keep Cooreman

Head coach of Kaduna United, Maurice Cooreman, has become a subject of transfer to another Premier League club, Warri Wolves, after guiding his side to a Federation Cup triumph a fortnight ago.
Naijaligue.blogspot.com understands that the Belgian is on the wish list of Warri Wolves currently looking for a replacement for Lawrence Akpokona, who resigned his appointment at the end of last season.
Already, the one-year deal handed to Cooreman at the start of the 2009/2010 season elapsed immediately he became the first coach to win a domestic silverware for Kaduna United when his side triumphed on penalties over Enyimba in the FA Cup, now known as the Federation Cup.
But Warri Wolves’ media chief, Timi Ebikagboro, recently told our correspondent that the coach had not been contacted since he remains under the payroll of Kaduna United.
“No move has been made for him yet because he is still an employee of Kaduna United,” Ebikagboro said.
But a source at Kaduna United revealed that Cooreman is waiting on the management of the club to renew his contract.
The club, it was learnt, has got the backing of the Kaduna State deputy governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, to wade into ensuring that Cooreman is retained at the club for the coming season.
Yero, chairman of the state’s mobilization committee for the Federation Cup, had made it clear that the state government will encourage the former coach of Enyimba and Ocean Boys to stay with Kaduna United.
