Nigeria Premier League (NPL) record top scorer, Ahmed Musa, has been handed a two-day leave to stay away from the Super Eagles’ camp at the NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja, SuperSport.com has been informed.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) spokesman, Robinson Okosun, said the national team selectors and the football house decided to give the teenage attacking winger the two days off to allow him recover from the trip to Mauritius.
Musa, 17, was part of the Under-20s that defeated their Mauritius counterparts 2 – 0 in the first leg of the African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier in Port Louis.
“We still have 13 players in camp. One of the invited 15 home-based players, Ahmed Musa, has been given two days off to recover after the trip to Port Louis where he was part of the Under-20 national team that played against Mauritius. So hopefully he should join the rest of the home-based side in camp in Abuja before the end of this week,” Okosun said.
However, Warri Wolves’ goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, is the only player that the NFF has been unable to establish contact with since the Super Eagles’ camp opened on Sunday in Abuja, according to Okosun.
Nigeria is preparing to face Guinea in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier billed to hold in Conakry on October 10.
