Blue Angels snap up Inter defender on loan

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Sharks Football Club, appears to have signed Internazionale Enugu defender, Onuabuchi Nwodo, on a one-year loan deal.
According to the official website of Inter Enugu, the Blue Angels are the second side to have shown interest in the teenage defender after Samson Siasia’s Heartland Football Club expressed interest a few days ago.
The Naze Millionaires had actually taken six Inter Enugu players including Nwodo on trial for the coming season but it appears that Siasia may have been beaten to the player’s signature now after Sharks’ head coach, John Obuh, opened talks with the owners of the player.
Already, Nwodo, who went a year loan deal with Israeli side, Betar Jerusalem, has joined the pre-season camp of the Blue Angels in Calabar in the wake of Obuh’s interest in him.
Nwodo impressed the Nigerian Under20s coach during a pre-season game between Inter Enugu and the Flying Eagles in Enugu in which the latter won by 1 – 2.
Inter Enugu president, Nna Francis Yawe, said talks have opened for the player but his side are only open to a one-year loan deal.
“We are interested in one year loan for Mayor (Nwodo) and nothing more,” Yawe dismissed talk of an outright transfer to Sharks on Inter Enugu official website.
Nwodo was in the stands to watch his new team demolish Ivorien side, Stella Abidjan five-nil in a West African Football Union (WAFU) Club Cup.
