Musa completes three-year deal at Venlo

Former Kano Pillars’ winger, Ahmed Musa, finally completed a three-year deal with Dutch Eredivisie side, VVV-Venlo, ending several weeks of speculation in the Nigerian media over the future of the talented footballer.
Ellen Berden of the Press and Communications Department of VVV-Venlo disclosed to SuperSport.com via e-mail on Wednesday that the 18-year-old completed the deal in the presence of the Dutch media and club officials including president Hai Berden.
The club’s spokesperson, however, said the teenage winger arrived on Tuesday and not Saturday as initially reported before he was officially presented later in the evening to the Dutch press by VVV-Venlo’s president, Hai Berden.
“Musa arrived at VVV-Venlo yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. At 17.00 o’clock (Dutch time) he was officially presented by our president, Mr. Hai Berden, to the Dutch press,” she said.
The press officer of the Dutch side also expressed excitement on behalf of the club on winning the services of Musa, who is highly-regarded after becoming the record top scorer in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) with 18 goals last season.
VVV-Venlo believes that Musa is capable of bringing their struggling performances in the Dutch league this season to a halt with his goal-scoring ability.
“The club is very happy to welcome this youth international in The Netherlands. The performances of this young player give the club a lot of faith,” Ellen Berden wrote in her e-mail to SuperSport.com.
On the club’s official website, VVV-Venlo explained why they signed on the Nigeria international.
The statement on their website read: “Musa is listed as the 140 best players in the world by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS). He belongs to the 15 best players of Africa together with Samual EtoĆ³, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.”
