Newly-promoted Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Plateau United, have appointed Ndubuisi Nduka as their head coach and technical adviser for the 2010/2011 season billed to kick off on October 23.
The appointment ends several weeks of speculation by the media in the race for the head coach role at the Jos club.
SuperSport.com had correctly reported on Sunday night that Nduka was favoured for the role at Plateau United ahead of four other coaches, who applied for the same post.
Spokesman of the club, Monday Goteng, confirmed this news to SuperSport.com on Monday afternoon.
He said: “The appointment of the coach was agreed over the weekend and the General Manager (of Plateau United) informed me to make this public as a matter of fact. So, Mr. Ndubuisi Nduka will head the coaching crew of the team for the coming season.
“He will work with Taye Yusuf, who remains chief coach, after helping the club gain promotion last season to the Premier League.”
It is the second time that Nduka will be returning to Plateau United after handling the side between 2003 and 2004.
Nduka’s decision to join Plateau United was also borne out of the fact that he will be close to his family members, who reside in the city of Jos.
He has been handed a one-year deal by the Premier League club with an option of renewal at the end of the coming season.
