3SC to fine Salami on misconduct

Nigeria Premier League [NPL] side, Shooting Stars Sports Club [3SC], could bring additional sanction on last weekend's two-goal hero, Gbolahan Salami, following a misconduct charge against him. Salami is now suspended for two games by the NPL for attempting to attack Sunshine Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, after he cancelled out a six-minute strike by the opponents' forward, Akombo Ukeyima.
He is said to have also verbally assaulted Ogunbote, who was his former coach until the off-season when he was lured to Shooting Stars by coach Fatai Amoo.
Spokesman of Shooting Stars, Jubril Arowolo, condemned the attitude of the 19-year-old striker and said the player stands the risk of further sanction or fine from the club management.
Arowolo acknowledged that the Ibadan club have received official notification of Salami's suspension from the NPL and will not appeal.
"We are disappointed with the attitude of the player because Shooting Stars remain a club that will not encourage undisciplined behaviour among our players.
"I must tell you his suspension did not come as a surprise to us though we still feel it should be just a one-game suspension instead of two since he is a first-time offender.
"Instead of appealing over his poor attitude, we will only plead with the Nigeria Premier League [NPL] to tamper justice with mercy by considering the reduction in the suspension from two to one," said the club's image-maker.
