Crown Football Club centre-back, John Fashanu Fayoseh, is confident he and his teammates can hand out shock results to the big clubs in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) this season.
The defender, who missed Crown's two previous games before last Sunday's 1-1 draw at Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), told SuperSport.com that the Premier League newcomers should not be written off yet after their five-game losing streak.
Fayoseh said he is happy that the dreadful run of Crown came to an end in the derby at the MKO Abiola Stadium against city rivals, 3SC, on Sunday.
"It was good that we got a draw in that game. I know that no one gave us a chance before that game (against 3SC) because we had lost five straight games.
Losing five times in a row really dented our position on the table and now we have to start winning matches to make up for those losses.
"But now we have shown that we have a very good team.
A team that is capable of creating shock to even the big teams. We did it earlier in the season and I'm confident that we will get back to our best form and save the club from relegation.
Picking a draw away to 3SC was good and I believe it is the starting point of our revival," he said.
The Nigerian Under-20 defender believes that the draw at 3SC over the weekend will set a good pedestal for the team's subsequent games.
He added that Crown players and officials have never pondered on fighting for survival at the outset of the season in spite of being one of the four new promoted sides to the topflight in Nigeria.
"No team will compete in any league and want to play for relegation. So it is the same with Crown players and officials.
We are ambitious and want to stay in the Premier League at the end of the season. Thank God we have started that move with the result against Shooting Stars," Fayoseh, who scored Crown's equaliser against 3SC, told SuperSport.com.
