3SC admit missing striker Salami

Following his side’s 1 – 1 draw to Nigeria Premier League (NPL) leaders, Dolphins, on Sunday, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach, Fatai Amoo, has admitted that the team miss suspended striker, Gbolahan Salami.
The striker is under a one-year suspension from the Organising and Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Amoo told SuperSport.com that if he refuses to admit that Salami’s absence has not been felt since his suspension by the Nigerian FA, then he is not being fair in his assessment of the fiery youngster.
The former assistant coach of the Nigerian men’s national team also blamed his strikers for failing to convert the chances that came their way except for a first half strike by Tope Orelope from almost 30 yards.
“Gbolahan no doubt is a good player and it is impossible to say that we do not miss him because he brings a different dimension to our game and he has a lot of qualities as a player. But as much as we miss Gbolahan as a player, there are other players in the team that we signed to take up the responsibility of goal scoring.
“In our match against Dolphins I must say that my strikers disappointed me. We had a number of chances in which we should have gone 2 – 0 up but we could not convert them. If we had gone by two goals up I am sure that Dolphins would have found it difficult to come back into the match,” Amoo told SuperSport.com.
Amoo added that he will continue to work on the final third of his team in order to score more goals.
3SC are 14th on the NPL log and have scored 18 goals in 17 games this term, which Amoo finds unsatisfactory.
“It is a poor return for us. It only means that we have struggled to score one goal in every game. That is not enough for us to win matches,” said the 3SC gaffer.
