Plateau Utd offload Omolade, eight others

Former Caf Champions League winner with Enyimba, Ajibade Omolade, has become the latest high profile player to be thrown into the labour market by a Premier League side, SuperSport.com can report.
Omolade, a former captain of six-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba, was hooked by Premier League returnees, Plateau United, at the start of this season before his contract was terminated on March 31.
The left-back before joining up with Plateau United this season had faced a torrid spell at Sudanese club, Al-Hilal Omdurman, which loaned him to Nasarawa United in 2009.
But the former El-Kanemi Warriors’ man was not the only player affected by the clear out at Plateau United as eight others were also told to leave the club for various reasons.
The eight others sacked by Plateau United are Abdullahi Isa, Saleh Mohammed, Shedrack Monaya Daniel Njoku, Waziri Kabiru, Chorbe Godwin, Uche Ilo and Eze Nwabike.
“The management of Plateau United has approved the sack of nine of its players. Those shown the exit door include Abdullahi Isa, Ajibade Omolade, Saleh Mohammed, Shedrack Monaya, and Daniel Njoku,” an official of the club said. “Others are Waziri Kabiru, Chorbe Godwin, Uche Ilo and Eze Nwabike.”
SuperSport.com was informed by a club official that the sacking of the nine players ranged from “indolence, truancy, absenteeism, indiscipline, low performance and poor commitment.”
Plateau United are already screening some players to replace the nine before the second round of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season gets underway.
“The sacked players will be replaced by equally better ones to lift the club out of murky waters.
“Some players were recently invited for trials, and are currently undergoing screening. Those successful ones will be drafted to squad,” said the official.
