NPL wrap for Week 34

Six games took place at the weekend in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) and our predictor did not register any exact score but got four results correct.

Dolphins 0 – 0 Ocean Boys
Dolphins go top of the log by just one point after being held by Ocean Boys at home. Stanley Eguma’s men are still unhappy that they failed to take all points while Ocean Boys pick their first point on the road this term.

Dolphins are now leaders with 61 points while Ocean Boys are three points above the drop but with an outstanding game to play.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Gombe United 2 – 1 Kano Pillars
The first ended goalless but Adamu Mohammed opened score for the hosts on 60 minutes and two minutes later, Ifeanyi Okoro curled home a free kick to make it two.

Pillars’ forward, Gambo Mohammed made the score respectable on 87 minutes by getting his 11th goal of the season. Pillars stay third on the log with 59 points and Gombe United are 13th with 43 points.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Juth 2 – 0 Zamfara United
Kabiru ‘Yaro’ Abdullahi scored just on the stroke of half time and Uche Agbo doubled the lead for De-Healers to win 2 – 0.

In spite of the win, Juth still remain bottom with 29 points from 33 games while Zamfara United are also still battling for survival in 17th position – three points off safety.
Our prediction: 2 – 1

Crown FC 2 – 2 3SC
3SC were just seconds away from their first road trip win but a goal at the death by Ibrahim Babalola earned Crown a point in Ilorin. 3SC got off to a flying start through Gabriel Adeboye inside the opening 10 minutes before Akanbi Taofeek drew the hosts level on 21 minutes.

Kabiru Alausa continued his goal-scoring form when he poked home 3SC’s second of the afternoon. But Babalola made the game safe for Crown. Crown remain in the drop zone with a game in hand, 3SC are now six points above relegation.
Our prediction: 1 – 1

Heartland 2 – 0 Bukola Babes
A double from Super Eagles right-back, Chibuzor Okonkwo inside the half hour of this game secured all points for the Naze Millionaires. The two goals have same semblance, as the defender struck on both occasions with low drives to beat Bukola Babes keeper, Suraj Ayeleso in goal.

Heartland climbed to 10th on the log with 46 points and an outstanding game while the Babes are a point behind their conquerors.
Our prediction: 3 – 0

Kaduna United 1 – 1 Plateau United
Plateau United stunned the hosts in this tie when new man, Caleb Baba plundered home an assist from the league top scorer, George Akpabio on 12 minutes.

It took Kaduna United 27 minutes to respond through Samson Auta’s strike to share the spoils.

Plateau remained in relegation with 35 points from 34 games and Kaduna are in ninth with 49 points but have two games to play.
Our prediction: 3 – 1
