Preview: Niger Tornadoes v Sharks

Two Nigeria Premier League (NPL) sides, Niger Tornadoes and Sharks, will go head-to-head in a rescheduled Week 29 game at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna on Wednesday.

This will be the 14th Premier League clash between the two sides since 2003.

In 13 previous meetings between the two sides, Niger Tornadoes and Sharks share six wins apiece with a draw.

In the first meeting of this season between both clubs, the Blue Angels ran over Tornadoes by three-nil.

Victor Ezeji helped himself with a brace in that game while his double was sandwiched by Bright Ejike’s goal.

However, the goals have dried up for Ezeji, as he last scored on February 9 in the league when Sharks won at Plateau United by 1 – 0.

Ejike is, however, away with the Nigerian Under20s to the Fifa World Cup in Colombia.

Last season in this same game, Sharks lost by 1 – 2 to Tornadoes and have not won in Minna in eight years.

However, the Blue Angels have veteran and former Under20 midfielder, Emmanuel Ebiede back in their fold while captain Odinga Odinga and his colleagues in defence will have their work cut out.

The duo of Sibi Gwar and Daniel Etor will be keen to return to scoring ways though Tornadoes undoing could be an ongoing pay row between players and club officials.
Our prediction: 1 – 1
