Preview: Warri Wolves v Enugu Rangers

The Warri City Stadium will play host to one of the biggest clashes of the season in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) between Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers on Wednesday.

The game between Warri Wolves in fourth place and Rangers in fifth is a rescheduled fixture for Matchday 34 after Rangers were excused to face Kwara United in the Wafu Cup at the weekend.

The Flying Antelopes come into this game on the strength of their 1 – 0 win at Kwara United in the first leg, second round of the Wafu Cup last Saturday.

Head coach of Rangers, Alphonsus Dike, is confident that his side can surprise their hosts by nicking a big result in Warri.

Dike wants his men to replicate the kind of display that earned them a win at Kwara United over the weekend.

“It is going to be a difficult game because they are seeking a continental spot and we are also doing the same. But we can do what we did to Kwara United to Wolves because in football anything is possible,” Dike told SuperSport.com.

In this season's first meeting at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Warri Wolves adopted a defensive style and left the Coal City unscathed with a point after a goalless outing to the disappointment of Enugu Rangers.

Rangers go into this game having lost just once in nine past meetings.

The Flying Antelopes only loss to their opponents in seven years occurred in November 2008 when Wolves won 2 – 0.

In this same corresponding fixture last season, Rangers got a 1 – 1 draw while in August 2005, Wolves then known as NPA lost at home to the Coal City side by a lone goal margin.
Our prediction: 2 – 1
