Plateau Utd maul Kwara Utd 7 – 0

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) strugglers, Plateau United handed themselves a life line to remain in the top flight on Sunday when they defeated Kwara United 7 – 0 in a Week 35 game.

Plateau United started the game with an intention to get all points with Obadiah Longji netting his first goal of the season inside three minutes for the home side at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

The Afonja Warriors poured out in search of the leveller but it was George Akpabio, who got a quick-fire double in the space of two minutes.

Akpabio was by miles the best player on the pitch on the afternoon as his pace on and off the ball gave Kwara United’s defence a torrid time.

As at half time, the game looked all but ended for Kwara United as they were trailing three-nil.

No one at the Rwang Pam Stadium knew that Plateau United will go on the rampage against their opponents in the business end of the game.

Just three minutes past the hour mark, Shehu Abdullahi made it four for Plateau United while Shuaibu Adesa got the fifth goal with 17 minutes left.

Akpabio, meanwhile is now joint top scorer on 17 goals alongside Ibrahim Ajani of Sunshine Stars and Jude Aneke of Kaduna United.

Longji and Akpabio were not done yet as both men netted a goal each at the death to complete the rout on a hapless Kwara United.

Plateau United are now on 38 points, two behind the safety zone.
