NPL shifts Sunshine, Zamfara game

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has been forced to adjust its Match Day 36 game involving Sunshine Stars and Zamfara United.

The match was earlier billed to hold on Wednesday in Ijebu-Ode but will now hold on Friday.

Acting Executive Secretary of the Premier League, Tunji Babalola told SuperSport.com that the game had to be moved forward as Sunshine Stars are scheduled to arrive in Nigeria from Morocco on Wednesday.

Babalola explained that Sunshine Stars communicated to the NPL that they faced a hitch in their plans.

"The Sunshine Stars, Zamfara United game cannot hold on Wednesday again. It is because Sunshine Stars will now return to the country (after their trip to Tunisia for a Caf Confederation Cup game) on Wednesday when the match will be played and we can't make them play on same day.

"The match has been moved to Friday since we do not have matches this weekend in the league. Sunshine Stars have told us that they had problems in Tunisia and that's why we have shifted their game.

"At least they will play on Friday. So we won't have any outstanding game in the league ahead of the next round of matches," Babalola confirmed to SuperSport.com.

Sunshine Stars missed reaching the Caf Confederation Cup final by virtue of losing on a goal aggregate to Club Africain in the semis.
