Don’t write off Dolphins - Austine

Dropped Under23 defender, Festus Austine has warned Nigeria Premier League (NPL) rivals that Dolphins are still in the title race.

Dolphins slipped three points behind Sunshine Stars at the top of the NPL standings when they lost 2-3 in Ijebu-Ode to the Akure Gunners in a top-of-the-table clash on Match Day 35.

Austine dismissed the loss to Sunshine Stars as the determining factor in producing the eventual winners of the top flight this season.

"I don't think we have lost the title yet," said the former Bendel Insurance defender. "Yes we lost at Sunshine Stars and now they are in a good position than we are. But we will not despair because the season is still on."

The centre-back is confident that Dolphins can claim all points in their last three games in the ongoing season.

Title-chasing Dolphins are set to face 3SC, Zamfara United and Bukola Babes in their last games of the season and Austine believes that "we can beat the three teams."

Dolphins are second in the NPL table on 64 points and have won Nigeria's top flight twice in 1996/1997 and 2003/2004 seasons.
