Sharks beat Crown at home

By Sammy Wejinya

Crown FC were defeated 1-3 at home in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) on Tuesday by Sharks in Ilorin in a Week 36 game.

Tuesday's win was Sharks' second away triumph of the season.

Sharks dominated the opening minutes of the game but failed to create any clear cut openings in the opening 45 minutes.

The first half ended goalless but Sharks began the second half like a house on fire and duly got their reward as Gomo Onduku opened the scoring early on.

Crown was soon on level terms as Taofeek Akanbi equalized from the spot following a controversial penalty.

Sharks, however, continued to press and confirmed their dominance with further goals from Andrew Michael and Onduku who completed his brace shortly before the end of the match.

“We deserved to win as we showed great composure in front of goal,” Chief coach of Sharks, Imama Amapakabo told SuperSport.com after the game.

“The boys were also more relaxed and that contributed to this good performance. “Two wins from two (games) is an excellent return and we will build on this and see where it takes us.”

Sharks move up to fifth on the log with 58 points from 35 matches while Crown remain in 19th place on the 20 team log.
