NPL wrap for Week 4

Twenty goals were scored over the weekend in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) with Gombe United forward, Mustapha Babadidi becoming the first player to score three goals in a game this season.

Gombe United, Enyimba and Wikki are the only clubs with 100 percent record so far this season.

Kwara United 1-0 Dolphins
An early goal by former Crown FC man, Philip Asuquo ensured that the home side got all three points against troubled NPL champions, Dolphins.

Dolphins have three points after their opening day win over Sunshine Stars while Tunde Sanni's side have same number of points.

Wikki Tourists 1-0 Kano Pillars
Ladan Bosso got the better of his former team, Kano Pillars thanks to the solitary goal from Tunde Aremu on 43 minutes.

The win has ensured that Bosso's men continue with their 100 percent start to the season.

3SC 0-0 Rising Stars
Festus Allen's men on Saturday failed to take their chances to make sure that they got maximum points this season. NPL newcomers, Rising Stars stood their ground to earn their second point of the season.

Akwa United 1-0 Jigawa Golden Stars
The Promise Keepers got off to a winning start in their first home game when Ini Akpan got the winner late on.

The loss leaves Jigawa Golden Stars with no point from their opening two games.

Gombe United 3-1 Niger Tornadoes
Mustapha Babadidi became the first player to net a hat-trick in this NPL season when he scored twice inside 40 minutes and completed his treble in the 50th minute. Azuka Ebinum's strike sandwiched Babadidi's goals as Tornadoes fell 1-3.

The Desert Scorpions are now top of the standings by virtue of superior goals difference after garnering six points from two games.

Enugu Rangers 3-0 Kaduna United
The Flying Antelopes overran Maurice Cooreman's side by 3-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday. Akeem Yakubu, Rasaq Adegbite and Ogonna Uzochukwu got the goals to keep Rangers in the top five after two rounds of games into the season.

Sunshine Stars 1-1 Ocean Boys
The Divine Warriors made nonsense of bookmakers' prediction by earning a point at Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

It was Ikechukwu Okemmiri's late goal that cancelled out Godfrey Oboabona's 45th minute goal from the spot. Sunshine Stars remain outside of the top half while Ocean Boys have earned themselves two points from two games on the road.

Enyimba 2-0 Sharks
As expected Enyimba continued their dominance over Sharks with a 2-0 win in Aba. The game was done and dusted in the first 45 minutes through Uche Agbo's goal on 13 minutes and Josiah Maduabuchi's goal from a penalty on 23 minutes.

The Peoples Elephant are second on the standings with six maximum points while the Blue Angels are without a point.

Heartland 2-1 ABS FC
Cup holders, Heartland, raced into a two-goal lead inside the hour-mark. Goals from Bello Kofarmata and Julius Ubido set the Naze Millionaires on a winning path before Andrew Abalogwu got ABS' lone goal of the game on 69 minutes.

The win was Heartland's first as Dutchman, Lodewijk de Kruif took charge of the side after returning from holidays in Holland.

Warri Wolves 2-1 Lobi Stars
Lobi Stars got off to a flying start on seven minutes when Lazarus Chukwu put them in front. Inside the quarter of an hour, pacy Uruemu Egbeta poked home Wolves' leveller.

New boy and NPL record top scorer, Jude Aneke, got the winner for Wolves on 79 minutes by nodding home a rebound.

The win leaves Paul Aigbogun's men with four points from two games while Lobi Stars are yet to pick a point this season.
