Akwa Utd shop for playmaker

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club, Akwa United are eager to bolster their playing personnel with a playmaker.

Head coach of The Promise Keepers, Solomon Ogbeide informed SuperSport.com that bringing in a playmaker in this mid-season transfer window is a "priority" for him.

The former Sunshine Stars' coach added that he wants a forward to also strengthen his squad as the second round of the Premier League gets underway this weekend.

"Our priority now is to sign a playmaker and may be an attacker, who is a very good finisher. We are looking at a number of players in that area to bring in but no agreement has been reached with any of the players yet," he said.

Akwa United had already sounded out Enugu Rangers' midfielder, Haliru Umar, who turned down their approach to remain at the Flying Antelopes.

The Promise Keepers will face Enugu Rangers this weekend at the Uyo Township Stadium.
