Bloggers award flatters Emordi, Ofoedu

Okey Emordi and Chikeluba Ofoedu are excited after being picked as Manager and Player for the month of February respectively by Naija Premier League (Naija PL) Bloggers Awards.

The duo was presented with their certificates for Manager and Player of February accordingly by Chairman of the Naija PL Bloggers Awards, Ojeikere Aikhoje last Sunday during a Matchday 18 game between Enugu Rangers and 3SC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Rangers’ trainer, whose team are now table-toppers in the Premier League, said the award shows that his contribution to the development of the game especially in the Nigerian top flight is recognised.

“Personally I am happy with this (award). There are 19 other top (head) coaches in the league and I have been picked as the best (for the month of February). It only speaks volume of what we have achieved this season in the league with Rangers,” he said.

Emordi also reserved plaudits for the organisers of the monthly awards, Naijapremierleague.net, Naijafootball247.com and Naijaligue.blogspot.com – blogs dedicated to Nigerian football and its leagues.

“This is a very good innovation for the league from the organisers. I believe you will continue to grow in popularity and size through the awards to those of us who have served so well in the league for so many years,” the former Enyimba handler said.

However, a surprised Ofoedu when presented with the certificate for edging other players in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) to win the February edition of the monthly awards said it will spur him on to keep scoring.

The 19-year-old striker has scored eight Premier League goals this season.

“I want to be the best in the league and do my thing quietly. I am happy that I have been recognised here (by the Naija Premier League Bloggers Awards) as the best player in February. I hope I can win the subsequent months to prove that my performance in February was no fluke,” the Rangers’ forward said.

Gombe United duo of Bernard Ogbe and Mustapha Babadidi was named Manager and Player for January edition of the awards.
