Dolphins in talks for ex-Sofia striker

Nigerian champions, Dolphins are set to make a surprise offer to former Bulgarian-based striker, Ortega Deniran, SuperSport.com has been informed.

The 25-year-old forward has been in Port Harcourt for several weeks talking to officials of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club on joining the side till the end of the current season.

It is becoming clearer that Deniran could be offered a short-term deal this week by the Port Harcourt-based club.

A source in the Dolphins’ camp told SuperSport.com that Deniran explained that he has opted to play in the Nigerian top flight after spells at CD Suchitepequez (in Guatemala) and Chongqing Lifan (in China).

“Ortega Deniran has been in Port Harcourt for several weeks now. He has been talking to officials of Dolphins and it is very likely that he may be given a contract between now and until the end of the season as Dolphins push for the defence of their title.

“But his case is subject to the decision of Dolphins’ manager, Stanley Eguma. They have talked and I am sure that by the end of this week, there will be a decision on the matter,” the Dolphins’ official disclosed.

He has also played for Armenian club, FC Banants as well as Bulgarian team, PFC Spartak Varna, Slavia Sofia and Levski Sofia.

Deniran was on the books of Slavia Sofia until last year when he was released.
