Two-time African champions, Enyimba, romped to their biggest win in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) by defeating title-holders, Kano Pillars 3-0 on Sunday.
Last
season's leading scorer, Sibi Gwar netted the three goals to become the second
player to score a hat-trick this term after Warri Wolves' Oghenekaro Etebo.
He
scored twice in the opening half including a spot kick and rounded off his
performance on the day with a third just past the hour mark.
Kano
Pillars stay top of the standings in spite of the loss. Enyimba are now three
points within touching distance of the table-toppers.
Sunshine
Stars missed the chance to become the new table-toppers after playing a 0-0
draw with ABS.
The
Akure Gunners leapfrog Enugu Rangers into second place.
3SC
got their first away point this season. They played out a goalless draw with
Sharks in Port Harcourt.
Isah
Akor continued his form of scoring in Owerri as his goal turned out to be the
winner that ensured Heartland edged Akwa United 2-1.
Ebere
Odiche had opened score for the hosts inside the quarter of an hour before John
Aguda put Akwa United on level term within two minutes.
Heartland
are now in fourth spot on 17 points.
Substitute
Samuel Akinbinu's goal gave Nembe City a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars.
Former
champions, Dolphins, surrendered the full points at the death to Warri Wolves.
Oghenekaro Etebo scored in the 32nd minute for Wolves but Chigozie Ihunda put
Dolphins back in the tie on 83 minutes.
It
was Lazarus Chukwu's goal in seven minutes of added time that broke the hearts of
the Dolphins' contingent.
A
50th-minute goal from Hassan Abubakar was enough for Kaduna United to see off
Gombe United and climb into safety.
In
Ilorin, a goal in each half from Dare Ojo and substitute Yahaya Adamu for Kwara
United left El-Kanemi Warriors in the bottom four.
On
Monday, Rangers, now in fifth place, could go top of the log should they defeat
Bayelsa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The
game between Nasarawa United and Wikki Tourists will also hold on Monday.
