Sharks, Dolphins kicked out of Cup

Dolphins and Sharks have been thrown out of the 2013 Federation Cup by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

According to a statement from the football federation on Wednesday, the two Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfits will not be admitted into the Cup competitions after it emerged that unqualified referees were used to officiate the Rivers State Federation Cup.

“The 2013 preliminary matches of the Federation Cup were officiated by unqualified/registered referees. This therefore means that no preliminary matches were played in the state in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the competition,” a statement from the NFF competitions department read.

Dolphins and Sharks will also be excluded from the draws of the Federation Cup by the NFF.
