Newly-signed
defender, Emmanuel Olowo (pictured), is in line to make his first appearance in the
colours of Sunshine Stars in Sunday's Glo Premier League game against Kwara
United.
Olowo
is one of the players listed by Sunshine Stars head coach, Fatai Amoo in his provisional
squad for the match billed for the Akure Township Stadium from 4pm local time.
Already,
the centre-back acquired from Cup holders, Heartland, has been handed squad
number 33 for the rest of the season.
"Emmanuel
is a decent addition for us. We needed someone with experience and leadership
qualities in the heart of defence and he definitely fits the bill. He has
played top level football in the league and on the continent and we are happy
to have snapped him up.
"Remember
our captain, Godfrey (Oboabona) is always away on international duty so
bringing in Emmanuel was something we needed to do to give the team more steel
at the back," said Amoo.
Olowo
is already bracing up for a tough tie first game for the Akure Gunners against
rivals Kwara United.
"I
have played against them this season already while at Heartland and I know
them. Though we lost that game but I think playing at Sunshine Stars is a whole
new challenge for me after spending five to six years at Heartland," said
Olowo to supersport.com.
