Enyimba trio brace up for big clash

Enyimba trio of Chimezie Amanfor, Ifeanyi Ede and Chinedu Udoji have declared that there will be no room for error when they face Nigeria champions, Kano Pillars on Tuesday.

Six-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Enyimba, face Kano Pillars at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

The original fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on September 11 was abandoned owing to crowd disturbance which led to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appeals committee ordering a replay of the match day 31 game.

Amanfor told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that Enyimba can take the full points but acknowledged that the champions will be fired up.

"They're the champions. But we have a chance to win the league this season and this game is important. I believe we have enough quality to win this game but it will be tough. At the same time we cannot afford to lose," said the attacking winger, who has played mostly from the bench this season.

Former Enugu Rangers man, Ede, also believes a win is possible for the People's Elephant in Tuesday's monster game.

"In football anything is possible. We are focused on this game because it will play a part in deciding who wins the league this season, and by God's grace we will win. We know what they (Kano Pillars) are capable of doing on the field as a team so we will be careful not to make mistakes," Ede, who has scored 10 goals in league and Cup competitions this season, said to Naijaligue.blogspot.com.

Enyimba captain and centre-back, Udoji (pictured), revealed that his teammates are in good frame of mind for the big clash.

He said players of the Aba club know that they are on the path of joining the previous history-making team of Enyimba that won the league and Cup double in 2005.

“We know we are close to writing our names in history by winning the double. Enyimba have won the league and the FA Cup before and we also want to make names for ourselves by God's grace. It will be a difficult game but we will be focused to get a result against Kano Pillars," said Udoji to Naijaligue.blogspot.com.

Amanfor, Ede and Udoji have been key figures in Enyimba's charge for a seventh NPFL title.

The Aba club have won the Nigerian top flight in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010.

Only Enugu Rangers have equally number of league titles as Enyimba.
