Sharks head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, believes his team are now "stronger" but not perfect ahead of the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.
Ogunbote is keen to see the Blue Angels get off the blocks early in the new season after struggling for longer spells last term.
He said the Port Harcourt club are setting a higher target for this season.
“Like I told you it is not as if we have a perfect team but we want to tell people that at the end of the season we will have something to show to the fans and sponsor.
“Without mixing words we have a stronger team than we had last season and the target we have set for ourselves is high and we will not forgive ourselves if we don’t achieve at the end of the season,” said Ogunbote.
The former Sunshine Stars trainer was quick to point to their pre-season build up which has offered some positives going into the new season.
He used the Lotto pre-season tournament in Lagos as an instance in which they put up a fine display one of their outings in the off-season.
“We just tried to make sure we have a very good build-up to the new season and the Lotto tournament helped a great deal in fine-tuning some loose ends in the team.
“The tournament has become a challenge for the team because our fans will be looking forward to us replicating the performance in Lagos when the league starts while some people would want to see how we will cope in the league after last season's experience at the start of the season," said Ogunbote.
On Sunday, Sharks continued their build-up to the season with a 1-1 draw against Enyimba in a friendly match in Aba.
The Blue Angels will start their Glo Premier League season on the road to Bayelsa United this February.
