Lobi Stars Wins Race To Sign Dobrev

It has been a straight battle between two Nigeria Premier League (NPL) sides, Lobi Stars and Kwara United, over Bulgarian coach, Mitko Dobrev. But it is the former that appears to be in front of the race for the services of the former Heartland Football Club head coach at the moment. It is becoming clear that Lobi Stars could unveil Dobrev in a matter of days barring any hitch in contract talks between the representatives of the two. A source at the club told our correspondent that the management of Lobi Stars may have settled for the former head coach of Heartland Football Club ahead of three other coaches on its wish list. The three other coaches on Lobi Stars’ transfer target are Kadiri Ikhana, Justin Tenger and Solomon Ogbeide. It was learnt that one of the influential officials of Lobi Stars had met with an insider at Heartland FC on opening contact with the Bulgarian coach, who was fired by the Premier League runner-up for anti-club activities. Our source also informed that Lobi Stars could be offering Dobrev a staggering amount between the region of N35 million and N40 million. Dobrev was scheduled to take part in an interview at Kwara United last week, but opted out after being tempted by Lobi Stars’ huge fee.
