Emordi Sealed Enyimba Deal Before Super Four

It has been revealed that the deal between former Heartland Football Club technical consultant, Okey Emordi and five-time Globacom Premier League winner, Enyimba, was concluded even before the Super Four began last month in Ilorin.
A top player with Heartland FC, who did not want his name mentioned and close to the former Enugu Rangers’ handler, informed that an understanding had been reached between Emordi and Enyimba before the Glo Super Four, which was won by Heartland FC.
Our correspondent understands that when the officials of the Peoples Elephant contacted Emordi on his availability to take charge of the Aba club, he made it clear that he would want to work with the side for a second time after his spell in 2004 when he led the side to defend the CAF Champions League won the previous year.
Our source also explained that Emordi’s last assignment with Heartland FC was the Glo Super Four.
He also added that it should have been noticed that former Nigerian players, Austin Eguavoen and Ike Shorunmu, were not part of those that sat on Enyimba’s bench during the Super Four in Ilorin since the Peoples Elephant did not extend their one-year deals.
For Emordi, he is happy to be back in the saddle as head coach of Nigeria’s most successful club in this millenium.
But the coach does not want to be pressured into committing himself though he assured that he has returned to the club to win trophies like he did in his first stint in 2004.
“I know why I am here at Enyimba. Returning to coaching full-time is good for my career and at the same time, it is good for Enyimba because this is a club where I have worked before and there are still officials and players that worked with me back in 2004. We are ready for the new season and that is all I can say for now,” he simply said.
