Rangers’ Inconsistent Form Worries Me – Dike

The chief coach of Enugu Rangers, Alphonsus Dike, has expressed concern about his side’s incoherent performance in the Globacom Premier League this season.
Dike told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that he was displeased with last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Warri Wolves at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
“For us this is not the kind of result we want to make a statement about our ambition this season. It has been inconsistent. It has been win one and lose another or draw another like we did over the weekend with Warri Wolves,” said Dike in a painful tone.
But the former Golden Eaglets’ coach was particularly boiled by the fact that his side struggled to earn a draw against visiting Warri Wolves in a Week Eight Premier League tie.
In its last three games, the Flying Antelopes has picked four points from nine, which Dike does not consider a champion’s stuff.
Dike knows that his side would need to work hard on its marksmanship before the game away to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan.
“Just four points from nine is not good at all. It is not a way to show that you want to be a threat to the ambition of other clubs. It is even worse when teams come to your home and get points off you. Now we really need work on our scoring ability in front of goal. That has been our big problem this season,” confused Dike.
Goalkeeper Ebere Obi expressed confidence to Naijaligue.blogspot.com that the club would definitely break the hoodoo of failing to win a domestic title since 1984 when it won the Nigerian league.
Ebere Obi, who is elder brother to Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, made it clear that the Flying Antelopes is not under pressure.
“Rangers have not lost it yet because the season is still early. No doubt we have not won anything in several years and that is a major concern for all of us here (at Enugu Rangers). But we are confident that we have a good chance of winning something at the end of this season, though it has not been the kind of season that we hope for. We will focus on each game as it comes,” he said.
