Rangers Distraught Over Another Home Draw

Head coach of Enugu Rangers, Alphonsus Dike, is unhappy after his side’s goalless draw against struggling Lobi Stars inside an empty Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.
Dike was in a pensive mood after the game though he blamed his players for letting Lobi Stars off the hook in a game they should have rounded off even in the first half.
“I think we were very wasteful in our game against Lobi Stars. It is not a good result for us because our ambition is to win the league or qualify for the continent. We should have even finished off the game in the first half judging by the chances we had in the first half, but unfortunately my boys did not take advantage of those opportunities and at the end we had to settle for a goalless draw and that is not a good result for us playing at home,” Dike posited in a telephone interview with Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
Asked if playing in an empty stadium affected his players, Dike refused to accept that as an excuse stating that it was not the first game in which his side had played in an empty ground.
It is the fourth time this season that the Flying Antelopes would be dropping points at its home ground to the disappointment of Dike.
The Flying Antelopes’ coach is angry that his side has blown the opportunity of closing the gap on the top three sides, Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Kwara United last weekend.
Now, Dike is concerned about his side’s trip to champion, Bayelsa United, on Sunday.
“This draw means that we will need to be at our best in Bayelsa when we face Bayelsa United on Sunday. It is going to be a tough game, but we will continue to give our best till the end of the season,” he said.
