Ehiosun, Akpoveta Save Wolves’ Blushes

The duo of Ehiosun Ekigho and Oke Akpoveta made the difference for Warri Wolves in its rescheduled Week 31 game against Dolphin Football Club in Warri to win by 2 – 1.
After back-to-back losses in the Premier League (to Kano Pillars by 0 – 4) and CAF Confederation Cup (to Caps United by 0 – 2), Lawrence Akpokona’s men needed to respond or face the wrath of angry Warri fans, whose patience had began to thin out.
However, it was Warri Wolves that set the show alive at the Warri City Stadium when Ekigho popped up to stamp home his eighth goal of the season on 13 minutes.
Wolves showed its vulnerability at the back by conceding inside two minutes of taking the lead.
Dolphin hitman, Captain Ejindu, poked home his side’s equaliser on 15 minutes and also brought his goals’ tally for the season to eight.
Fans at the Warri City Stadium were stunned by the immediate response of the visiting team, as Wolves tried to restore its lead before half time without success.
Already the frustration was beginning to build on the bench of Wolves, as it could not afford another loss at this point.
However, it took Wolves 16 minutes into the restart to earn a shaky victory over Dolphin, which was unfortunate not to have scored a second goal.
It was Akpoveta that saved Akpokona the blushes of watching his side drop points in front of its home crowd, as Wolves held on for a rather unimpressive win.
