Enyimba Confronts Zanaco In Confed Cup

Two-time CAF Champions League champion, Enyimba, would face Zambia’s Zanaco over two legs in the pre-group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup in July.
According to the draws made by CAF in Cairo on Thursday, Enyimba would travel to Lusaka, Zambia for the first leg against Zanaco while the return game holds on the weekend of July 31 and August 1 in Aba.
The result over the two legs would determine which side would reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, which kicks off in October.
If the Peoples Elephant scales the Zanaco hurdle, it would advance to Group B of the championship.
There is the possibility that if Enyimba qualifies for the group stage, it could face three clubs from CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, Petro Atletico of Angola, SuperSport United of South Africa, FUS of Morocco, El Hodoud of Egypt, Gaborone United of Botswana, CRB of Algeria and Mali’s Djoliba.
This is the second time that Enyimba is facing a Zambian opponent in the elimination round before a CAF-organised club competition.
The Peoples Elephant eliminated Red Arrows by 9 – 1 on aggregate in the 2005 CAF Champions League.
Enyimba won 3 – 0 in Aba before crashing Arrows 6 – 1 in Lusaka to advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League that year.
