Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has declared that it will step its fight for the Premier League title in next campaign after struggling to retain its top-flight division status last season.
Chairman of the club, Jossy Lad, disclosed to the official website of the club in Ibadan that the management will work hard in a fresh giving direction to the side in ensuring that it emerges as one of the contenders for the title next season.
He also called on the team’s head coach, Fatai Amoo, to make sure that he picks the right playing personnel ahead of next Premier League football calendar to give the Ibadan-based side a real chance to compete.
Lad, a former coach of Shooting Stars, promised that the five-man management team, which he spearheads, will work in harmony with every department of the club
“The board has been working tirelessly to ensure that the club is repositioned. As a matter of priority, our target for next season is the league title and nothing less.
“Already we are mapping out our strategies. The technical crew led by Fatai Amoo will do their job to ensure that we get the right materials to execute the job, while we (the board), on our part, will not relent in our efforts to complement him,” Lad told the club’s website.
Other members of the board are Dr. Felix Owolabi (MON), Raheem Olatunji, Bisi Adegoke (Secretary), and Prince Moses Olaoye.
Shooting Stars has won the league title five times in 1976, 1980, 1983, 1995 and 1998. Those were years before the Nigeria top-flight assumed the toga of Premier League.
But the Oluyole Warriors finished a disappointing 11th last season after garnering 52 points.
