Premier League champion, Enyimba, will have to wait till Wednesday morning to determine whether influential attacking winger, Josiah Maduabuchi, will feature in its opening game at the Super Four against Sunshine Stars.
Spokesman of the club, Tonnex Chukwu, told Naijaligue.blogspot.com in a telephone interview on Tuesday from Aba that the former Wikki Tourist man suffered a hamstring injury against Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco) Football Club of Zambia at the weekend.
Maduabuchi, 22, was helped off the pitch in the first half in Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup second leg tie against the Zambian side at the Enyimba Sports Complex.
Tonnex said: “I am not sure if he will be part of the team for our opening game (Sunshine Stars) in Ijebu Ode. Maduabuchi is a major doubt for the opening game for now. But I cannot really tell you the status of his injury for now, as the team doctor is the only person that can speak on that.”
The Peoples Elephant spokesman believes that the six-time Nigerian champion is capable of fielding another replacement for the versatile winger.
