CAF Champions League campaigner, Heartland Football Club, has opened transfer negotiations for Bayelsa United defender, Chibuzor Okonkwo.
Right full-back Okonkwo recently failed to bag a contract at Russian club, Rostov and has returned to the country. He has been training with Heartland.
“Yes we have begun discussions with Okonkwo’s club Bayelsa United over his transfer,” Heartland top official, Emeka Iwuagwu, informed MTNFootball.com.
“We cannot have him for the Champions League because the registration has closed. We want him for next season.”
It is not the first time that the Naze Millionaires has tried for the Olympic silver medallist.
Earlier talks last season broke down when Bayelsa United refused to sell its prised player to its rival, Heartland.
